Fluorinar 2 inch Kynar PVDF pipe flange

New Kynar® PVDF Filament Zero Warping

Unlimited Size: Fluorinar-C™ PVDF 3D filament prints flat objects

Fluorinar-C™ Kynar® 3D Filament

Nile Polymers is excited to announce our new Fluorinar-C™ filament made from Arkema’s Kynar® PVDF copolymer.  Currently available in 2.85 mm diameters in a white color, our 3D printing filament is ideal for printing large parts that remain perfectly flat during the printing process and after cooling. Outstanding properties of our Fluorinar-C™ filament include:

  • PVDF print sizes are only limited by machine print volume or filament length
  • Bottom print layer remains perfectly flat without using brims or rafts
  • No loss of part dimensions due to warping
  • No warping due to sharp corners on the printed part
  • Fully compatible with Fluorinar-H™ filament in multi-extrusion printers

Significant design or size limitations that exist for other PVDF filaments are no longer a problem for the Fluorinar-C™. For the first time, printed part sizes are limited by printer build volume or the amount of filament in the spool. The above Schedule 80 2-inch flange with a 6-inch pipe stub was printed with 100% infill and weighs almost 600 g.

Fluorinar-C™ filament provides high-quality prints for prototypes, one-off parts or small production runs. These prints can be used in environments which exceed the capabilities of other 3D print materials.  Fluorinar-C™ can also be used as an adhesion layer to help prevent warping in Fluorinar-H™ prints. Video examples of 3D printing with our Fluorinar™ filaments can be found at the Nile Polymers YouTube Channel. Additional 3D printed PVDF parts are shown on our Fluorinar-C™ product page.

Unlike other advanced polymers, printing with Fluorinar-C™ filament can be done on consumer-grade equipment at a material price that won’t break the bank.  Contact us today and order a 1000 g spool of Fluorinar-C™ or a 5-meter filament test sample and get ready to experience something amazing.

Synergy: Stronger together than apart

Fluorinar-H™ Kynar® 3D Filament

Nile Polymers is pleased to announce a joint partnership with 3Dogg.com to distribute Fluorinar™ Kynar® PVDF filaments. This relationship allows customers outside of North America quicker access to Fluorinar™ PVDF filaments. Available in both 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm diameters this is the first Kynar® PVDF filament available to the 3D printing market. “Growth of additive manufacturing is particularly strong in Europe,” said Howard Fisher, president of Nile Polymers. “With so many high-quality 3D printers being manufactured in Europe, it makes sense that demand for engineered-thermoplastic filaments such as PVDF would also be strong.”

While there are many PVDF materials available, Nile Polymers believes that using Kynar® PVDF is very significant. Besides meeting certifications and standards recognized throughout the world, Kynar® PVDF is a recognized tradename across all industries and is synonymous with quality and excellence in fluoroplastics. “While the Kynar® PVDF that we use in our filaments is manufactured in the US, our relationship with 3Dogg.com brings the Kynar® filament back home. Kynar® is a material and trademark owned by Arkema and headquartered in France,” continued Fisher.

3Dogg.com is the oldest European distributor for advanced 3D filaments including PEEK, PVDF, ETFE and ECTFE. All of these materials are commonly used to prevent corrosion in the pharmaceutical, semiconductor and chemical process industries. “We are amazed at the diversity of our customers and applications that require our filaments,” said Bert Ebus, president of 3Dogg.com. “We are excited to provide them with a consistent source of PVDF filament and look forward to working with Nile Polymers.”

Together, we welcome the opportunity of meeting our customer’s filament needs throughout the world.

Amazing Results: Fluorinar-H™ PVDF filament delivers quality prints

Fluorinar-H™ Kynar® 3D Filament

Nile Polymers is pleased to announce our new Fluorinar-H™ filament made from Arkema’s Kynar® PVDF homopolymer.  Available in 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm diameters in a natural color, our 3D printing filament is ideal for printing applications in chemical or high-temperature environments.  Outstanding properties of our PVDF filament include:

  • Upper use temperature of 150 C
  • Long-term performance in direct contact with HCl, H2SO4, HF and HBr
  • UV resistant for years of sunlight without loss of mechanical properties
  • Low coefficient of friction for exceptional material release
  • Gamma ray sterilization without loss of tensile strength
  • Zero flame spread
  • Ion extraction at ppb levels
  • USP Class VI
  • Lot traceability
  • 100% Kynar® PVDF: no additives, stabilizers, plasticizers, fillers or colorants
  • Full melt compatibility with our Fluorinar-C™ PVDF copolymer filament

There are no perfect materials for every 3D printing application.  However,  Fluorinar-H™ filament will provide high-quality prints for prototypes, one-off prints or small production runs> These prints can be used in environments which exceed the capabilities of other 3D print materials.  Fluorinar-H™ parts are made to be used and not stored on the shelf.  When you need Kynar® PVDF, nothing else will work.

Our PVDF filament is a low surface energy material so it does not adhere well to most surfaces.  Print adhesion can be tough to achieve unless you know one thing: Elmer’s disappearing purple glue stick.  Apply a thin layer of this adhesive evenly to a clean glass print surface.  Heat the printing bed to 100 C and extrude the Fluorinar™ filament at 240 – 260 C.  Print speed can be set between 20 – 40 mm/s.  Turn off the print surface cooling fans and get ready to see results as good as any other material available today. Video examples of 3D printing with our PVDF filament can be found at the Nile Polymers YouTube Channel. Additional 3D printed PVDF parts are shown on our Fluorinar-H™ product page.

Unlike other advanced polymers, printing with Fluorinar-H™ filament can be done on consumer-grade equipment at a material price that won’t break the bank.  Contact us today and order a 500 g spool of Fluorinar-H™ or a 5-meter filament test sample and get ready to expand your printing possibilities.
